Please Welcome Alec to the Family

Freya and Monkey now have a new "friend" his name is Alec, Alec followed the hubby from work last night, and I'm trying to find his owner. If nobody claims him. he will be our newest addition to our family. With that said I had the blog post over to Freya who wants to give her opinion and then maybe I'll give Alec and Monkey both time to speak on their behalf.

From Freya's mouth:

I can't believe it! A little half-pint followed human man home. I sat and hissed at him for a while then hid under the bed. I will not, I repeat will not share the house with another cat. I can hardly tolerate Monkey as it is. Now I have to share it with this cat that the human man says is his. Oh! And another thing, man human brings chicken bird home from work for me and monkey because they sometimes have some left over and human man the human girl both shared the bird with Monkey and Alec! How dare they! That's my bird.

Jen human has been talking to me telling me that I'm her number one girl and I'll always be her kitty. Alec isn't her kitty she says, she says he belongs to man human. I do find it funny that he may have to go to the place to get a nakey belly just like I did. But the girl human said boy cats aren't like girl cat's and they don't have to get a nakey belly they just remove stuff.

Girl human also says I'm not scared when I hiss, she says I'm cute. I'm not trying to be cute Jenny, I want to let the new guy know I'm the boss, I will be the boss, and he's going to have to get in line. This is my Jenny and that's how it is. She can not share with Alec or Monkey ever!

Monkey's opinion of Alec:

I'm old and I really don't care what these young cats are fighting about. I try to keep my distance from the new orange one all he does is hiss and act like this is his place. I've been here 14 years and I know who's place it really is. Mine! I have yet to push the new guy over for cleanings or have yet to share a bowl with him, but I don't want to rush being friends with such a little scrawny, skinny bag of bones. I'm king. I am king!

A word from the new guy, Alec:

Meow! I'm Alec, the humans keep switching my name around first I was Bastet, but the human man said it was too girlish, then he called me Constantine, but realized people couldn't spell that either. So he's now calling me Alec. Alec is from some TV show he likes and said it's easier to spell.

I don't know what happened to my old family if I don't find them. They're keeping me here! I like that idea. They have two other kitties, a funny looking brown one, and a tortishell. I'm told the tortishell is the girl humans best friend. I'm fine with that. I understand humans and cats pick their people. I picked the man human. He smelt like chicken and good food, and I asked him, "Can I come in it's hot outside, plus I love the smell of whatever you're carrying home.

The humans say I'm going to have something removed from my butt! Ouchies! I hope it's not my tail. I have a pretty cool tail.

The girl human says maybe Freya and I can start our own little blog posts together once we become friend's it'll be the Alec and Freya hour. Monkey's not much of a blogger and doesn't like to blog. But I'm young and full of ideas! Be prepared people! Alec the blogger cat is reporting for duty.

And again please note I am not crazy and I'm, aware that cats can talk or type but it's fun to write a blog post in their point of view sometimes.

Today Jen asks the age old question, "Will it tuna?"

Freya and I had our own Good Mythical Morning challenge a few days ago. Well mainly I did, Freya sat around and helped. She is the honarary food sniffer in our household and with the job of being an honoary food smell, she had the job of smelling nothing more than gluten-free vegan tuna.

Yes. Gluten-free. Vegan Tuna. From the clearance section of our local Meijer. Exactly what I said. Gluten-free vegan tuna from the gluten-free section. I know I've warned everyone else not to go to the gluten free section if they want to save money but this blue packaged 'tuna' was on clearance!

Everyone probably know's why I allowed Freya to smell the food first? Cats love tuna! They love the smell of fish. So if this meat free substitute could tuna. Freya could tell me! It even came in one of those little packages that some of her kitty cat food comes, in you know the flavor pouches. Maybe she thought I bought her a brand new gourmet meal. There was one way to find out.

I opened the package let her smell it. She was excited about the whole lemon pepper tuna idea, until I remembered one thing. Lemon! Cats dislike citrus. As soon as she smelt the lemon, and possibly the pepper she turned her tail up and walked away.

You see this look of the Miss Freya on the bed. It's almost the exact look she gave me when I let her smell the tuna that I was going to put on my little gluten free roll. I think she thought it was a cruel trick. Just to trick her cute little tortishell self. I tried telling her it wasn't, and what I had was just human food but she didn't believe me.

Did I dare go against Freya's warnings about eating tuna that came from a plant not from a fishy? Did I go against her warning that it's made out of lemon and pepper? I never really liked tuna from the get go, maybe I was trying to be more like Rhett and Link, more than I wanted to.

"Lemon Pepper, vegan tuna. Can it tuna?"

Yes, and no! I liked the taste of the tuna, especially on a roll with vegan free tuna. I was meat free, gluten free and eating something that I may have had my very own "Jen" barf bucket on handy for. But it was fine. What wasn't fine was the texture. It's not the same textue of a fish. I know it's not exactly going to. A fish is a fish, and their meat is different than a plant that they stuck together to make a fish. But the texture wasn't as palatable as I would have wanted to.

Would I eat the lemon pepper tuna again? That thing that looks like dog food if you will in a bowl with mayo? I might! Only if only I actually found a better piece of gluten-free bread that will make or break the bank when it comes to the tuna.

Maybe next time tuna maybe next time.

ScoreTie!

Question for my gluten free or vegan readers? Have you found a better substitute for the lemon pepper tuna?

Everybody park and duck! Time for my summer bucket list sneak peak

Oh, the summertime is among us, and so is my summertime bucket list. Last week when I was my way back from the book store we stopped at one of the places I plan on going to on my summer bucket list, the park Our local park is so beautiful. The duckweed, the algae and the wildlife all make the park beautiful. There are many bridges to cross, many animals and there are many bodies of water.

If already took these two photos why on earth would I want to go back and take more photos of the park right? The park is bigger than just the two areas I took photos, of and I need to be more active.I openly admit it, I don't walk as much as I should and I really need to take being active strides. Taking photos of the park and places around town are going to do exactly that. Get me active. Take me to places where I can be one with nature again. Mother nature has been rough on us the last few months. I just want to let her and her wildlife know, that want to help.

The ducks I took a photo of here were really friendly. They actually came out of the water and got closer to me. I think it may be the fact that people like to feed the wildlife at the park, even if there are signs that say not to feed the animals. The animals don't know that I'm still following the rules. Do they?

The second picture is just of the park itself. In the background, you may not be able to see it, but there's a 'haunted' hospital. I don't believe it's haunted by any means. But I do plan on going to the hospital and taking photos of the hospital anyway, without going inside. Going inside of the hospital is illegal.

I can't wait for my summer photo tour of the town

As I said it, I can't wait to give you all a tour of the town. These two photos really don't say much, as it could be any town, any park in the United States. I want to prove that differently, and I was going to the day I was at the park, if not for my phone's battery is at 5% (really! the day I'm strolling on home from the book store from the park my phone nearly dies).

At least I'm taking a huge step in making all my summer plans happen this summer. Wish me luck.

6 Places to Get Free Books

Since I brought up the idea of doing book list this summer, and my ways of getting free books seems almost silly, and impossible am I right? Especially when it comes to actual printed copies. People can download a Kindle or Nook app on their computers, phones, or tablets and we’re able to read books for free. I’m talking about free books.

Bucket list item #1: Partly Done
Take a trip to the local bookstore and browse their free book section that they have outside

All of the places I talk about below are free for anyone. While sites like PJ Library is meant for young children and PJ our Way is for teens 11-13, there are still many books for people of all ages. If anyone has any other suggestions about pages that I may have missed, let me know! I’ll add them to the list of resources below.

Book Stores
Most mom and pop book stores have free boxes. I went to search the free boxes yesterday and found myself 10 books. A handful of which I may actually pick out for my summer reading list once I have it figured out soon. Sometimes you do have to wade between some boring books to find your gems! Reading list or not I plan on reading Secrets of my Hollywood Life by Jen Calotina.

I plan on going a few more times the next few weeks just so that I can add more books to my summer reading list. This is just part of the bucket list.

Craigslist and Facebook Groups
On Facebook and Craigslist, there’s a place where people are giving away of books. Most of the time local garage sales area fabulous way to get free books. If you do intend to meet up with anyone for books or anything of the sort, please have a safe pick up spot.

Both PJ sites are meant for Jewish children to quality reading materials. I am not Jewish nor do they really ask if you’re Jewish, but I am open to my kids about other faiths so that they know that there are other faiths in the world, and it’s okay to look around and learn about others. I feel if a child doesn’t learn about other faiths, once they become adults they can be a little bit nervous about someone who’s different than they are. We all need to love and respect the people around us.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
Some places can actually get books from Imagination Library. It’s a place where kids can get books. It’s a little bit like the PJ Library, but the books have no religious nature to them at all. If your location is a lot like ours, nonexistent you can sing up to be a distributor.

Religious Places
If you nicely contact a bigger religious place, church, mosque, temple, whatever religion you’re hoping to learn about, they can sometimes send you a religious book and sometimes other books to get you to understand the faith better. I actually have a few Hindu books on my bookshelf that I was sent many years ago. And I still read them.

Sometimes just typing “Free [religon] books here you can find paper copies of books that you can order.

Check Freebie Sites
Last but not least you can find free books on freebie sites if you’re lucky you can find free hard copies of books on freebie sites. To be sure that you are a on a freebie site and not a scam site. Please do not give out information like your phone number, and do not jump through hoops. All they really need is your home address most of the time.

Some freebie sites I use are:
